At the heart of every 13.3" LCD lies an ingenious layer of liquid crystal molecules that can precisely twist and untwist to modulate light. This liquid crystal layer is sandwiched between two polarizing filters that only allow light rays vibrating in specific orientations to pass through.
A high-efficiency LED backlight provides the initial source illumination from behind the liquid crystal layer. Advanced local dimming allows this backlight to be selectively brightened or dimmed across different zones of the screen.
Each pixel consists of a trio of liquid crystal sub-pixel cells, one with a red color filter, one green, and one blue. By modulating the amount of backlight that passes through each sub-pixel liquid crystal, the intensity of that sub-pixel color can be finely adjusted from fully on to fully off.
Dedicated LCD driver chips and timing controllers rapidly update the orientation state of each sub-pixel liquid crystal molecule millions of times per second in sync with the video input signal. This allows the crystals to construct amazingly detailed, tear-free images made up of finely blended colors.

Screens on laptops are all LCD. Backlight makes a difference, either CCFL or LED. A 2 wire link to a high voltage invertor is needed for the CCFL backlights on older LCD displays. If you want to know whether your laptop's screen is backlit by LED or CCFL, you can try searching the manufacturer's website using the model number.

This is my second aftermarket replacement screen; the first one didn't match space gray well, but this one does. I dropped my first screen on concrete, shattering it. When I ran over this second one with a construction truck, it was in my backpack.Oh no! Hehe. Although it wasn't included in the description, this kit did come with a screwdriver and the necessary parts to replace the screen. This has the MacBook Air underneath the screen on the front and the Apple logo on the rear. I replaced it over the course of around twenty minutes while watching a YouTube video. Simply take your time and keep the various screws arranged. Though I might be mistaken, I believe the display's colors are off. Since the Apple screen is calibrated from the factory, you should change the white point in the display properties. For an A1932 display, this was also the lowest price available on Amazon. All is well thus far! roughly 75% less expensive than having Apple replace it.

I got this to put on the MacBook Pro of my daughter-in-law. It arrived on schedule and was extremely well packed. Specialty screw drivers are needed for installation, however they are reasonably priced on Amazon. To find out what you need, simply watch one of the numerous how-to videos on YouTube for replacing the screen assembly. The screen appeared immediately after installation and has a brand-new appearance. Saved me $600 by doing it myself instead of paying a local repair business $600. Do not attempt to perform this task on any type of carpet if you are doing it alone because many of the little screws you will need to remove in order to replace them are quite small. Don't hurry things and take your time.
