On May 13th, U.S. time, on the eve of the opening of SID Display Week 2024, the SID Honors and Awards Banquet was grandly held in San Jose, USA. BOE Chairman Chen Yanshun was invited to attend and granted the 2024 “David Sarnoff Industry Achievement Award”, the highest personal honor for the global information display industry leader, from Paul Drzaic, Chairman of the Awards Committee. This award represents the industry’s high evaluation of Chairman Chen Yanshun’s leadership of BOE in achieving remarkable achievements in the field of information display, and is also a wide recognition of the rapid development of China’s semiconductor display industry represented by BOE in recent years.
Under the outstanding leadership of Chairman Chen Yanshun, BOE has not only achieved the company’s fast growth with the concept of “Internet of Things on Displays”, but also promoted the continuous exploration of new worldwide growth model in the semiconductor display industry.
David Sarnoff Industry Achievement Award was established in 2018 and is awarded to only one outstanding leader in the global display industry every year to recognize his/her great contribution and long-term effects.
Chen Yanshun expressed his gratitude to the SID Honor and Award Committee for this award in his speech, and he especially appreciated all the industry partners and all BOE employees for their unremitting efforts and support. Chen highlighted that this honor belongs to all BOE people. Chen said, “in the past five years, BOE has always maintained a constant pace of innovation, especially our deep insight into semiconductor display related technologies, such as IOT, digital and artificial intelligence technologies. In particular, in response to the integration trend of the rapidly developing IOT technology, we innovatively proposed the development strategy of “Internet of Things on Displays”, which created broad space and unlimited possibilities for the development of the semiconductor display industry, and also provided the wise methodology to upgrade the company’s strategy.”
In the new wave of digital development, Chairman Chen Yanshun brought up the strategy concept of “Internet of Things on Displays”, which integrated more functions and embed more scenario into display products, so as to create an industrial ecology of “Display as platform, Display as system”. In the end of 2023, an industrial book named “Internet of Things on Displays” was published officially, which embodies BOE’s strategic management ideas and business wisdom in 30 years’ growth. This book systematically explored the strategic significance of “Internet of Things on Displays”, and wisely provided the company’s direction on technology development circle as well as seeking company’s new growth field in current new global digital era.
Chen Yanshun said, “SID is a global dsiplay industry event, where BOE has released the leading cutting-edge technologies and products over the years. One of the BOE’s key target is to promote technology progress through unstoppable innovation.” BOE has always maintained respect on technologies and persisted in innovation for years.BOE is investing about 7% of its revenue in research and development every year, of which 1.5% goes to the basic technology research. Meanwhile, BOE continues to accelerate its blueprint in the field of cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence, and becomes the first company in the industry to propose “AI smart display on all-scenario”. BOE will continuously cultivate deeply in the ecological system in all kinds of different IoT application market such as smart vehicles, smart retail and smart visual arts.
