HONOR Magic V5 Sets a New Industry Benchmark with BOE’s LTPO Technology

On July 2nd, HONOR held a new product launch event to unveil its latest flagship foldable smartphone—the HONOR Magic V5. With an ultra-slim body measuring just 8.8mm thick, the device redefines industry standards.

BOE partnered with HONOR to develop a new lightweight and flexible OLED foldable display solution. Utilizing industry-leading LTPO technology, the display achieves significant advancements in three key areas: ultra-smooth performance, ultra-low power consumption, and eye health protection. This sets a new benchmark for flagship foldable devices. The collaboration between BOE and HONOR not only showcases BOE’s technological leadership in LTPO applications for high-end foldable screens, but also highlights the results of joint innovation under the “Powered by BOE” ecosystem.

BOE equipped the HONOR Magic V5 with a 7.95-inch flexible OLED inner screen using a water-drop-shaped hinge design with a folding radius as small as 1.95mm. This enables a thinner, lighter device while significantly reducing screen crease issues, offering users a worry-free folding experience.

Additionally, the screen features an ultra-high resolution of 2352 x 2172 and a peak brightness of 5000 nits, delivering vibrant and vivid images even under strong outdoor lighting. Notably, the HONOR Magic V5 incorporates BOE’s 4320Hz PWM dimming technology, ensuring stable screen performance under all lighting conditions to better protect users’ eye health.

Thanks to BOE’s LTPO technology, which delivers ultra-smooth visuals, ultra-low power usage, and eye care benefits, the HONOR Magic V5 demonstrates both powerful performance and thoughtful user-centric design in foldable screen innovation.

Ultra-Smooth Display:
BOE’s LTPO technology enables a wider range of variable refresh rates, allowing the HONOR Magic V5 to intelligently adjust from 1Hz to 120Hz depending on usage scenarios. Whether reading static content or watching dynamic videos, users enjoy a seamless and detailed visual experience.

Ultra-Low Power Consumption:
Compared to traditional display technologies, BOE’s LTPO consumes significantly less power at the same brightness and display content. Paired with HONOR’s 5820/6100mAh Qinghai Lake battery, the phone’s battery life has seen a substantial improvement.

In 2021, BOE launched China’s first dedicated display technology brand. Its high-end flexible OLED sub-brand, f-OLED, has already empowered flagship models from numerous leading global brands.

BOE’s flexible display solutions are now featured in many top-tier flagship devices both domestically and internationally and are expanding into laptops, automotive displays, and wearables. BOE was an early mover in developing high-end LTPO technology, investing heavily in R&D and upgrades. It became the first Chinese manufacturer to successfully mass-produce and commercialize LTPO displays, greatly expanding the scope of LTPO applications and offering competitive advantages for global device makers.

Currently, BOE’s LTPO technology is widely used across high-end smartphones, wearables, and foldable devices. Looking ahead, BOE’s LTPO technology is expected to make breakthrough applications in more emerging fields, continuing to drive the next wave of innovation in display technology.
